HAnanoSurface on Porous Materials

The use of porous material in implants is a growing trend. The porous material allows interpenetration and formation of blood vessels, which is important in order to get the natural bone to grow into the implant. The HAnano Surface coating procedure works well for surface treatment of porous structures. The nanometer thin HAnano Surface uniformly covers the surface even inside the cavities, without blocking the pores. The technique can easily be adapted in order to preserve the underlying surface structure, even for porous structures with a specific surface topology/roughness. The wetting behavior of the material is very important for porous structures with small pore sizes since the capillary action becomes more dominant as the pores size decrease. To make it possible for body fluids to absorb into small pores and cavities, it is necessary to have a hydrophilic surface. Coating of the porous material with HAnano Surface can be used in order to improve the hydrophilicity of the material.
